Motorola Teams Up With Skype for Wireless Internet Calling

Motorola Teams Up With Skype for Wireless Internet Calling: "Motorola and Skype have put together the Motorola Talk and Tunes Wireless Internet Calling Kit, a Bluetooth headset for Skype phone calling that doubles as a pair of high fidelity headphones. The kit includes a pair of Motorola HT820 stereo headphones that connect to Motorola's PC850 Bluetooth USB adapter.

Motorola says the headphones work seamlessly with Skype software, which is readily available free on the Internet. The software has been modified to make the headset automatically pause the music when you receive a call. Free calls anywhere? Stop the music when a call comes in? If Skype makes it any easier, soon it won't even matter that you can only talk to other Skype users for free—everyone will be a Skype user.

Hands-on with the Sony Ericsson P990

Hands-on with the Sony Ericsson P990:

Yeah, we know it hurts that Sony Ericsson has no plans, at least as of right now, to ever release the P990 here in the States, but here's something that might make you feel better: the QWERTY keyboard on this phone is pretty crappy. To be fair, five minutes is definitely not enough time to make a proper assessment, but the impression we were left with after playing with the P990 at the Sony Ericsson booth is that the keys are way too small and not tactile enough for easy typing.

Anyway, to refresh your memory on the specs, the P990 runs Symbian OS 9.1 with the UIQ 3 software platform, and has a 2.8-inch QVGA touch screen display, built-in WiFi (802.11b), Bluetooth, a two megapixel camera with a 'photo light,' video calling, FM radio, MP3 and MPEG-4 player, and a keyboard (QWERTY, QWERTZ, AZERTY, or Russian) underneath the flip-down keypad.

Leaked shots of the Blackberry 7130c

Leaked shots of the Blackberry 7130c:
Is it just us, or are RIM's Blackberry devices getting svelter by the minute? The latest pictures to surface are of their unannounced 7130c phone for Cingular. The device shares the keypad ethics of the rest of the 7100 series, though it does seem to have its very own sense of style, a definite departure from the 7130e which was launched last year. The good news is that the phone seems to be trimming the bulk, with its front dominated by the screen and keypad. The bad news is that's all we know so far. We'll keep you posted.

Fujitsu Shows Concept Four-Way Slider Phone

Fujitsu Shows Concept Four-Way Slider Phone: "Fujitsu is in Milan for the Triennale di Milano Japanese design expo this week showing off a few early concept gadgets. Among them is a four-way slider cellphone that sports a virtual keypad. In essence, you can slide the keypad panel up, down, left or right and the keypad will appear where appropriate. Four buttons are on the face of the decidedly iPod-looking concept. Since it is but a concept, don't expect to see the cellphone on the market in the near future. Fujistu also has at the Milan expo a more traditional slider cellphone complete with a full keyboard, but that's not quite as exciting.

Moto debuts new music-centric V3m alongside colorful V3i RAZRs

Moto debuts new music-centric V3m alongside colorful V3i RAZRs:
We can hardly blame Motorola for milking their incredibly successful RAZR line for all it's worth, and that sure seems to be their plan at CTIA. Today Moto is busting out a brand new musicphone RAZR titled the V3m, which sounds to be merely a V3i plus stereo Bluetooth, with a microSD slot for up to 1GB of storage, and a 1.3 megapixel camera. We're not sure if the phone features iTunes playback or not, but we can't say we'd miss it anyways. The CDMA phone is accompanied by another in the W315, which sounds to be a no-frills clamshell, though we're low on deets and without a pic. Motorola is also bringing out some new spring colors for the RAZR V3i (pictured), including dark blue, maroon and violet. We'll have hands-on shots of these before long, so just sit tight.
